About The Guys
Fred Meyers
Fred started off as a young skinny kid with a big head of hair and he had what most didn’t then, he had a dream. Coming from Detroit, MI, everyone worked in factories, for GM or Ford. Fred’s dream involved music; he loved drumming and knew it was his lot in life to be involved in the music industry. At 22 years old he applied to work for Warner Bros Record Company, they rejected him 5 times before he finally was hired- whether that was his tenacity that impressed them or they just wanted him to leave them the hell alone, we’ll never know. But the ‘yes’ is all it took for Fred to gain the confidence he needed to make his dream come true.
For the next 20 years he climbed his way up Warner Bros- then transitioned to Virgin Records. In that 20 years he went to McDonald’s with Van Halen before they had their first hit, he met Ozzy before he stuttered, ZZ Top, Lenny Kravitz,Bob Marley, a Spice Girl even had a crush on him. Finally Fred decided that with his growing children and the change the music industry was making he was ready to embark on a new path.
With his sparkling personality and determination he became a realtor in Texas. And not just any realtor, eight years into his new career path he became the 3rd best realtor in Austin, TX. Then in 2007 he decided to open his own real estate company, Austin City Living. After two years this company has an office on 5th street and has become one of the most well known real estate companies in Austin.
Throughout Fred’s life he always had a knack for cooking, he could pretty much just look in the fridge and grab several random ingredients and create a badass meal. As kids entered his life he always had Chase and Lauren help him on his meal making conquests. Whether he put them in charge of cutting up green onions, washing potatoes, stirring pasta sauce, he involved them in every step so they could learn how to be great chef’s themselves. His cooking never involved exact measurements, (I don’t think he owns measuring spoons or measuring cups) it was all based on his guess & taste tests of course. Chase quickly picked up on his chef skills and took those away with him at college. Chase got an idea one day about creating a fun show between his dad, Fred and himself cooking in the kitchen. And that is how Man Meals was created.
Chase Meyers
Chase is a 22-year-old college student at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. He has been cooking with his dad, Fred, since he was old enough to stand on his step stool and hold a stirring spoon. His passions in life are basketball, wakeboarding, snowboarding, writing music lyrics, bass guitar, industrial design and of course cooking. He graduated from Austin High School and was immediately sought after for basketball in college, many schools were interested in recruiting this 6’7” powerhouse. Chase decided to go with WIT in Boston not only to play basketball but also because they have one of the best art schools in the country. Since Chase was young he always had a pad of paper with him drawing up anything and everything so it was only natural for him to pick industrial design as his major.
While in college Chase took his father-taught chef skills and was probably the only freshman in his dorm room of 5 other guys to make a pork roast on a cold winter day or a slammin white chili before the big football game. All of his classmates soon would line up by his dorm to see what Chase would cook next.
One day Chase realized that with his fun personality, chef skills combined with his dad’s crazy past and superb cooking skills they would make a perfect match for a cooking show. Chase began by writing up the script, passed it along to his dad and other close friends and family for their opinion. Everyone thought it was an awesome idea, so they got started filming and it became MAN MEALS!
